Emotional Eating

In times of sorrow, stress, and pain we meet,
Why do we turn to food when emotions fleet?
When sadness, anger, and despair collide,
In our hearts, a need to fill, we cannot hide.

The deeper the emotion, the more we consume,
As our souls in turmoil, our hearts start to swoon.
Our brains whisper softly, “Take a bite,
Eating will ease the storm, make everything right.”

After a funeral, when tears have flowed like rain,
We gather, sharing food to numb the lingering pain.
The sadness, the emotion, somewhat appeased,
As we taste the comfort, a moment of inner peace.

For some, a single cookie may suffice,
A balm for their soul, a momentary paradise.
While others, a whole cake, they may embrace,
To drown their sorrows in that sugary grace.

In the shadows of depression, self-loathing’s grip,
We battle not to overindulge, our hearts and minds adrift.
The brain resists, the cravings persist,
In this inner struggle, we persist.

The more we eat, the sadder we become,
Self-loathing deepens, our hearts growing numb.
Depression looms, like a never-ending night,
So we eat once more, to regain our inner light.

The darkness descends, and we take another bite,
Seeking solace in the flavors, in the dead of night.
“I don’t like how I feel,” we whisper in despair,
But with every morsel, we push away the wear and tear.

In this relentless cycle, we find our way,
Through the stormy nights and the light of day.
Emotional eating, a battle deep within,
As we fight our demons and strive to truly win.
